Anti-smog law for the Małopolska Region

23 January 2017 Provincial Assembly of the Małopolska Voivodship (Sejmik Województwa Małopolskiego) voted for the anti-smog law to be introduced for the whole Małopolska Region.

Similar, but more strict anti-smog law (coal-ban) was introduced at the beginning of 2016 for Kraków city.

The law for Małopolska regions introduces quality standards for new and existing boilers as well as bans the use of coal waste for house heating (more information available here in Polish).

The introduction of this law, according to the modelling, will substantially change the air quality in Małopolska (especially when it comes to benzo[a]pirene]:

What is also important and what gives hope is that representative of the Ministry of Development-Jadwiga Emilewicz said that this law should not be the only anti-smog action. Therefore, we are looking forward to actions on national level e.g. introduction of National Program for Buildings Renovation.
